Fluoride in Water – Fluoride Aprove for San Jose Drinking Water

0 CommentsWritten by San Jose Water StoreFiled Under: News

On November 17th, 2011, the Associate Press reported that the board of the Santa Clara Valley Water District voted 7-0 to add fluoride to San Jose drinking water. The thought of adding fluoride in water is embraced by some and criticized by others. The San Jose Municipal Water System indicates that all drinking water naturally contains fluoride.

Fluoride in Water – Advocates

Dentists and children’s healthcare providers generally applaud the decision for the water district to put fluoride in water in San Jose.  Fluoride in water advocates claim fluoridated water reduces tooth decay. And, they say it benefits children of low-income families and the elderly who may not have routine access to dental care.

Fluoride in Water – Opponents

Those who oppose fluoride in water in San Jose indicate that fluoride in water has nothing to do with tooth decay. They assert it is an education issue for the parents. And, they argue that too much fluoride in water can cause adverse health conditions, such as fluorosis.

Fluoride in Water – Where do you stand?

Hexavalent Chromium is San Jose Tap Water?

What is Chromium?

The EPA further reports that Chromium is used in:

  • Leather tanning
  • Paints
  • Dyes
  • Wood preservatives

The EPA indicates the most common forms of chromium in our environment are trivalent chromium (chromium-3), hexavalent chromium (chromium-6) and the metal form, chromium-0. The medical community informs us that Chromium 6 has been found to cause cancer in lab rats.

And, Hexavalent Chromium (Chromium 6) is present in San Jose drinking water.

San Jose, CA (November 8, 2011) -
In recent years, drinking purified water has become extremely popular. Now more than ever, more people have embraced drinking water from purified sources and steering clear of unfiltered tap water. While some people associate drinking pure water with being a fad that will pass, people who choose to drink purified water, especially steam distilled water, likely won’t be switching back any time soon.

A company dedicated to getting the word out about steam distilled water and reverse osmosis water is Best Purified Water. It is operated by Aurelio and Lydia Tandoc. The San Jose, CA, based couple started off as customers of the water store they now own. When the original owner decided to retire, the Tandoc’s decided to buy the store.
